Got my craft on...

I really didn't like the look of yarn wreaths when I first saw them, but after browsing Pinterest and seeing so many of them, they started to grow on me.. A lot. So I made one!!! I probably wouldn't have done this if I hadn't found a huge bag of yarn in the basement. Why not? So this is it. Easy peasy pumpkin pie.

Everything I used I had on hand. It was a straw wreath with the plastic still on it (less messy), cream colored yarn (from my basement), red ribbon, and plastic snowflakes I found in my Christmas stuff. Probably from the dollar store or something.. I love snowflakes :)

A Love/Hate Relationship with Burlap... Leaning on the Hate.

So, I made a wreath for fall. Out of burlap. And it sucked. It was messy, and stinky, and turned out absolutely GORGEOUS!!! At least, I think so ;) Now, I'd love to say that I thought this up, but I totally didn't.. I found a tutorial online for a Spring wreath, and decided it would be PERFECT for Fall.. And it is! (Don't mind my ugly door. I'm thinking of painting it black.. or red? but I see red doors and I want to paint them black, haha... yeah, black would be better)

The original tutorial was found here..

But this is mine!! I prefer it..

BebeLeggins'

Well, there are tutorials all over blog land for DIY BabyLegs, and these are the ones I made. I just couldn't shell out 12 bucks a pop for the real deal! Sadly, the socks I bought to make them rolled up when cut, so they were kind of a pain in the tush :P I'm making another pair tomorrow, so maybe I'll remember to take pictures of how it be done :) But I think my model is still pretty cute..

Pretty Things, Pretty Baby

I decided to learn to crochet a few weeks ago, so I asked around, and a friend sent me to a youtube video. Once I watched the video a few times, I had it down. I had never really crocheted before, but I was able to do this.. I bet you can too!! Check it out HERE :)

For baby's newborn pictures, I really wanted to do a tutu picture, but I didn't want to buy one. So the morning of her pictures, I went to the store, and I made one. It was really easy to do! I know I'm going to make up some more, so I should have a little "How-To" up. But, until then, isn't she a pretty little baby??

A little somethin' somethin' I forgot:

Sometimes I bake. So be prepared to see some posts about that as well. I'm not terribly good at it, but I have fun! This is a fun cake I made for my niece's one-year-old Hawaiian themed birthday party :) The inside was a yummy yellow cake covered in buttercream frosting, "sand" (brown sugar), and flowers. Complete with a giant blow up turtle.

The Start of an Adventure:

When I was pregnant, I went through a crafting phase, of sorts. And I haven't been able to kick it yet. I follow so many crafting blogs, they're coming out my ears! I've been wanting to blog about some of the things I made, but never really got around to it. So I made a blog specifically for the stuff I've made/want to make/will make in the hopes that I actually do half the stuff I want to do. Someday.

So here's a few of the things I made while with child:

I'm not a painter, by any means. But I had a canvas, and a strong desire to paint something for the baby. So I did. I found a tree sillouette in Google Images, and used it for inspiration. to start, I painted the whole canvas brown. I let it dry, and then penciled on the big branches, and few of the smaller ones. Then I just let my imagination go. I pretty much just painted till I thought looked okay. Pretty easy. I did paint her name on the bottom right hand side (painting letters is the hardest thing ever), but when I took the picture, I didn't want to spoil what we were going to name her. So now it says Clara Rose on it. If I can find a picture (or remember to take one) with the name on it, I'll post that as well.

My mother-in-law sells jewelry (you can see some of it at http://sukijewelry.blogspot.com/) and does home shows. She was wanting to add a little variety, so I made her a few aprons. They modeled a few, and I hung some on the wall because a preggo lady in an apron is so not cute. Sadly, I gave a few of them away as wedding gifts before I remembered to take pictures of them. These are the few I do have pics of.

My sister-in-law was wanting some costumes for my niece's costume box. Brookie was in a Little Red Riding Hood phase, so one morning, I whipped up a little cape and hood for her. I made it long so she could grow into it. She loved it though!! It turned out really cute.

Using the same pattern, I made my older brother a cape and hood so he could be Obi Wan Kenobi for Halloween. I'm sure there's a picture somewhere of him wearing it.

Well, that's it for now. Perhaps I can build up some energy and motivation and make a few things for the blog :)
